Course outline for Hourly Rate Calculator training

Course overview

The session is part two of Health Education England’s training on the NHS KLS Costing Framework. 

During the session participants will explore the hourly rate calculator and how it fits within the wider costing framework.

Intended audience

It is open to all NHS KLS staff but recommended for Knowledge and Library managers and budget holders.

Prerequisites

Prior to attendance delegates should watch the Introduction to Costing podcast.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session participants will:

  • understand the licencing associated with the NHS KLS Costing Framework
  • be able to differentiate between non-productive, direct, and indirect service activity in relation to staff time
  • understand the principles of sampling in relation to the costing process
  • be able to use the Hourly Rate Calculator Tool to identify staff costs within their service
