Digital transformation was the topic of discussion at CILIP Libraries Rewired 2024. Inevitably there was a big focus on application of AI but also consideration of issues such as the digital divide and using tech to streamline processes. This took place at CodeNode, London on 1 November 2024.

The next couple of posts share a collection of reflections and learning from colleagues who attended:

I was very excited and privileged to attend the Rewired: A CILIP digital Transformation event. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to NHS England for the bursary award that enabled my participation, and to CILIP for organising such a valuable platform.

The event offered a great opportunity to engage with the with industry leaders and fellow professionals, enriching connections and exchanging knowledge. I found it particularly inspiring to discuss innovative ideas and explore the future of libraries in our increasingly digital landscape. The insights I gained will undoubtedly influence my work moving forward.

"AR and VR applications in GLAM settings" session led by Jordi Sellas i Ferres and Helen Scarlett O'Neill was extraordinary. They showcased how immersive technologies can transform galleries, libraries, archives, and museums. Moreover, Hannes Lowagie's session on "Adventures in AI and Metadata" was an eye opener as it explored the potential of artificial intelligence in enhancing metadata practices.

Furthermore, I had a fantastic experience at the Lego Robotics and Makerspace workshop session. Lego robotics hands-on learning was fun and interactive as we built and programmed Lego robots, which sparked our creativity and teamwork. The atmosphere was energetic as we collaborated to set the kit and enjoy together. I look forward to implementing the insights I gained from the event at my workspace.
